Here we are looking for any number that when added to 10 gives you an answer less than 20. We can show this as an inequality

x+10 < 20

Solve this as you would an equation

x + 10 < 20

x < 20 -10

x < 10

This answer tells us that any number less than 10 would yield an answer less than 20 if you added it to 10.
