It's a math question but I couldn't fit the full thing up here.

sarah took the advertising department from her company on a round trip to meet with a potential client. Including Sarah a total of 11 people took the trip. She was able to purchase coach tickets for $220 and first class tickets for $1180. She used her total budget for airfare for the trip, which was $9140. How many first class tickets did she buy? How many coach tickets did she buy? I couldn't fit the full question up there.

You want the coefficient of one of the variables in each equation to be equal so that subtraction will eliminate it. It is obvious that the second equation is divisible by 10 & then by 2 (i.e. by 20) to give you the coefficient 11; then you know you need to multiply the 1st equation by 11.
