Let m be the cost to rent a movie and g be the game rental cost.
From the description for the two months:
2m + 3g = 26 Eq 1
6m + 5g = 56 Eq 2
This gives us two simultaneous equations. There are several ways to solve for m and g, but it looks like we can eliminate m by subtracting 3 times Eq 1 from Eq 2.
6m + 5g = 56
-(6m + 9g = 78)
---------------------
-4g = -22 or g = -22/-4 = $5.50
We cans substitute g into Eq1 to solve for m:
2m + 3(5.5) = 26 --> 2m + 16.5 = 26
2m = 9.5
m = 9.5/2 = $4.75
