If I understand correctly:

let S = Sarah's age now and P = Phil's age now.

7 years ago Sarah was the same age as Phil is now: (S-7)=P

and 7 years ago Sarah's age was 2 times Phil's age then: (S-7)=2(P-7)

therefore: P=2(P-7) => P=14 and S=21.

Since Phil's age cannot be zero, we use 7 as P.

So P=7, and S= 14 from 7 years ago. We solve:

For 7 years ago:

S-7=2(P-7)(+7)

S= 2(7-7)+7

S= 2*7

S=14

For now:

S= 14+7 = 21

P= 7*2 = 14
