Marketing & Design
Hi Matt! Here is a helpful guide that is used in creative briefs to determine target audience ...
Demographics: age, gender, marital status, race, family situation, household income, occupation & education
(Example: So for a wood fired pizza oven, you are probably looking at men and women who are over 20 and have a certain amount of disposable income/middle class and up. Normally women cook more than men, but you may want to consider targeting BBQ dads or couples with children who are age 30 & up.)
Lifestyle: affluent leisure activities (i.e. travel, cooking, arts, charities, investments, etc.), community & civic activities, entertainment, high-tech purchases, hobbies, self-improvement activities, sporting activities
(Example: Foodie audience. Is there a connection with this activity and others? Wine, sports, family activity, etc.)
Behavioral: Past or new, potential experiences with product category and/or specific products.
(Example: What other products does your foodie audience own that suggest they might be interested in your product? Think kitchen and household gadgets.)
Psychological: Beliefs & attitudes toward product category, advertisers within category and/or specific products.
(Example: What brands is your audience loyal to? Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, In N Out Burger, etc.)
Hit those stars if this is helpful. Have a great weekend! =)
