This sounds like a question that a professor would ask of his/her students or maybe someone that is interviewing you for a position for a job. Either way here is my answer from the perspective of a consultant, I would say that employee counseling is hugely important for an employee to want to buy into the goals and culture of the company. I know that when a company invests in me as a person, I am more apt to stay longer. Training is important but to know that someone is interested in me as a person and mentor me and invest in my well-being is so important. It almost goes back to the first principle of Maslow's chart. I think most people want that security. I hope that helps.
