This is a similar triangle question. Draw the tree, then a line representing the shadow, then a line from the end of the shadow to the top of the tree representing the line toward the sun. Do the same for the vertical rod. The angle to the sun is the same for both the tree and the vertical rod. Then calculate the height of the tree using similar triangles.
