You would like to have 21.6 lbs of a chocolate mixture that sells for $3.30/lb. How much of each chocolate will you need to obtain the desired mixture?

I will not do the onerous arithmetic for you but I will set up the problem for you.

x= # choc @ $2.30 and y = # choc @ $5.90

x + y = 21.6

2.3x + 5.9y = 21.6*3.3

You can solve this in any way you choose...and all the ways will be messy!

In this case substitution might be the easiest, i.e set x=21.6-y and substitute into the 2nd equation. After a bunch of multiplications you will an equation in x alone.
