for every x there are two y values, unless you treat sqrx as just the positive value, then you get the top half of a parabola that opens to the right. With just the top half of the parabola, it's a function, since when you draw a vertical line through it, it only cuts the graph one time. It's one to one, as for every value of y there is only one value of x, and vice versa.
