Mistake #1:
Sandy said the graph was shifted 4 units to the left but it was shifted 4 units to the right.
Mistake #2:
Sandy said the graph was reflected over the y-axis but the graph is reflected over the x-axis.
Isaias M.
asked 10/22/20Sandy was asked to describe the transformation of y = -3(x - 4)2 - 6 from the parent graph of y = x2.
She said it was shifted 4 units to the left, stretched by a factor of 3, reflected over the y-axis, and shifted 6 units down.

(x-4) , the minus 4 indicates it was actually shifted to the right instead of the left. (positive means it shifts to the left)
3*(x-4) , since 3 is greater then 1, it actually means that the graph was actually shrunk by a factor of 3 in the x direction. (if it was 1/3*(x-4) instead, that would mean it was stretched)
