Question

Since mineral and resource extraction can often cause environmental pollution and other negative effects to the Earth, do you see or not see a need for government regulation of mining and other extraction processes? Explain your position in detail.

I think regulation is definitely needed on the mining industry. Within a mining operation a lot can go wrong in terms of pollutants and osha violations. Many people would cut corners if they can, unfortunately, since mining is not cheap despite having high reward. Thus safety for the people involved and the people of the surrounding area should be monitored by outside forces, just like it is in may other operations.
