Hi Reagan,
Distance between two pints is given as
D2 = Xa2- Xb2 + Ya2 -Yb2
Now plug in
Xa=8
Xb =3
Ya=2
Yb =9
D2 = ( 8- 3)2 +( 2-9)2 = 25 +49 = 74
D2 = 74
D = 8.6

Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
distance squared = sum of difference of x coordinates squared plus difference of y coordinates squared
d^2 = (8-3)^2 + (2-9)^ = 5^2 + (-7)^2 = 25 + 49 = 74
d = sqr74 = about 8.6
just use a calculator fo find the square root of 74
8 squared is 64, 9 squared is 81, 8.5 squared = 72.25
81-64= 17. half 17 is 8.5. 8.5 is about in the middle, but you want sqr74, so up it to 8.6
just a rough approximaation, but it's accurate
there's also a long hand way, like long division to find a square root.
but the calculator, hand held or online works best
