The likely solution is:

2+4 = 6= (3/4)(x-8)

(4/3)6 = 8 = x-8

x=16 = a

but the problem might have been

y+4 = 3/(4(x-8))

2+6 = 3/(4x-32)

8 = 3/(4x-32)

32x -256 = 3

32x = 259

x = 259/32 = a

3/4(x-8) could be (3/4)(x-8) or 3/(4(x-8))

I'd go with the first possibility with a=16

the point (a,2) is (16,2)

but it might be (259/32, 2)
