Hello, Mary,
I agree with Mark in the Comments section: what is the question?
I'm assume two possible questions: A. What is the width, and B. What is the area of the rectangle?
A. We know the length is 1 cm, and the width is a consecutive integer. We don't know which direction (positive or negative) , but if it is a consecutive integer, it has to go up or down by one. [I'm not sure what is meant by "even" integers, since 1 is not even]. That gives us a width of either 2 or 0. I'll assume the rectangle is real. A width of 0 means it is a straight line defined only by the length. So that gives us the value of 2 for the width.
B. A rectangle that is 2 x 1 cm has an area of 2 cm^2.
