NEED HELP ASAP PLEASE

Jamie left the study group traveling 16 mph. Then, 2 hours later, Erica left traveling the same direction at 24 mph. How long until Erica catches up with Jamie?

distance = speed x time


Jamie: 16T = 24(T-2)

distances are the same for each, time is 2 less for Erica


solve for T

16T = 24T-48

8T = 48

T = 6 hours when Erica catches up

Erica travels for 4 hours to catch up to Jamie


They each went 96 miles, 4x24=96, 6x16=96
