The general equation for slope-intercept form is y=mx+b, where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. Since you have m=3, we can plug that in: y=3x+b.
You're also given (1,2) as a point on the line. That's a point where x=1 and y=2, so we can substitute those values in the equation and solve for b:
2=3(1)+b simplifies to 2=3+b.
Subtract 3 from both sides to get -1=b.
Now go back to the original equation with just the slope, and plug b in: y=3x-1.
