Divide the polynomial x^5-1/x-1

I tried doing it but I come up with something so wrong and I need help

Write x⁵ - 1 out as:

 

x⁵ + 0x⁴ + 0x³ + 0x² +0x -1

 

And then do the long division as you normally would.

 

It can be confusing doing long division of polynomials when there are terms missing from the numerator.
