Divide the polynomial x⁴ - 5x² + 2x + 3 by x² + x + 1 and write the quotient and remainder.

Use long division

divisor is x^2 + x + 1

dividend ( inside bracket) is

x^4 + 0x^3 - 5x^2 + 2x + 3

should come out as

x^2 - x - 5 with a remainder of 8x + 8
