For f(x) = 8x−4 and g(x) = 1/8(x+4), find (f◦g)(x) and (g◦f)(x). Then determine whether (f◦g)(x)=(g◦f)(x).

f(x) = 8x - 4

g(x) = (x+4)/8

(f◦g)(x) = f(g(x)) = f((x+4)/8) = 8((x+4)/8) - 4 = x + 4 - 4 = x

(g◦f)(x) = g(f(x)) = g(8x-4) = ((8x-4) + 4)/8 = 8x/8 = x

(f◦g)(x) = (g◦f)(x) = x
