∫(1 to 3) [3f(x) + 8]dx = 14
3 ∫(1 to 3)f(x)dx + 8∫(1 to 3)dx = 14
3 ∫(1 to 3)f(x)dx = 14 - 16
So, ∫(1 to 3)f(x)dx = -2/3

The integral from 1 to 3 of 8 is 8(3) - 8(1) = 16. Then subtract 16 from both sides of the equation.
