Use synthetic division

Use synthetic division to evaluate f(x) = −4x^3 + 3x^2 − 17 when x = −2

Not Sure what this has to do with synthetic division. What are you dividing by?

if you want to evaluate f(x) when x = -2 then just replace all the x’s in the equation with -2

= -4(-2)³+3(-2)²-17

= -4(-8)+3(4)-17

= 32+12-17

= 27
