Find f(a), f(a + h), and the difference quotient f(a+h)-f(a)/h. Given f(x)=7x^2+9

First of all, f(a) is the original function 7x2 +9, I can only type a limited amount per comment

So next, for f(a+h), replace (x) with (x+h) to get (x+h)^2

Then plug f(a) and f(a+h) into the difference quotient formula

You will get this: ]7x^2 + 9 - (7(x+h)^2 + 9)] / h. You will have to do some algebra to distribute and foil and cancel to get final answer
