The best broad questions to ask are what are we selling and to whom. This way you can plan on the market strategy accordingly. A good reference point would be automobiles. For example, a car with fuel efficiency is sold and marketed to people who take long commutes while SUVs are marketed toward parents with young families. Conversely, concept cars and sports cars are marketed as fun as the manufacturer probably cannot make guarantees about safety or fuel economy.
