A 45-45-90 triangle is a special triangle. The sides opposite of the 45 degree angles are s and the hypotenuse is s√2. Thus, we know that s√2 = 9. We can now solve for s, which would be s = 9 / (√2). So the side lengths, or the legs of the triangle, would be 9 / (√2). You would then want to simplify the answer to get rid of the radial in the denominator.
