In math and science we use models to describe abstract approximations to explain phenomena and predict interactions. They are not necessarily exact representations, but are often based on idealized situations. The actual results will be somewhat different in the real world under conditions that are not ideal.
Fashion models are not abstract, but are real representations of how clothes fit and look on a person. However, the fashion models are also idealized situations. The clothes are meant to fit the models and the actual look and fit will not be quite the same for the real world case of a different person wearing the clothes.
Hope this helps
