solve (1) for x = g(y) = f-1(y)
y+3 = 1/x
x = 1/(y+3)
f-1(y) = 1/(y+3)
claim f-1(f(x)) = x
and f(f-1(x)) = x
proof:
f-1(f(x)) = f-1(y) = 1/(f(x)+3) = 1/(1/x-3 + 3) = 1/(1/x) = x
f(f-1(x)) = f(1/(x+3)) = 1/(1/(x+3)) - 3 = (x+3) - 3 = x
