y = -x^2 -6x + 11
This is already the standard form for a quadratic....
Start by finding the roots....set the equation equal to zero, factor, and solve for x:
-x^2 -6x + 11 = 0
x^2 +6x - 11 = 0
Factors: (x+ 5)(x - 6)
x = -5, +6
The axis of symmetry is halfway between these points, at x = -1/2. to get the vertex, plug this into the equation and solve for y.
