two numbers are reciprocals of each other if their product is 1
(2/3)(3/2)=6/6=1
2-3 has a reciprocal
2-3=1/23=1/8
the reciprocal is 8/1 or 8
another way to look at it is the following...
2-3 times what number gives you 1 ?
20=1
therefore, -3 plus what number is 0? the answer is 3
the reciprocal of 2-3 is 23 because when you multiply the numbers you get 2(-3+3)=20=1
2-3=1/8 and 23=8 and (1/8)(8)=1

Another way to think about it: reeciprocal is often defined as x^-1. So if you look at the last example I gave you, you could describe the reciprocal of x^-2 as.. (x^-2)(^-1) -> applying the -1 exponent to the whole thing means you flip. 1 / x^-2 -> flip this again since you still have a negative exponent. x^202/04/20
