If the perimeter of a rectangle is 48 cm and the area is 140 square cm then what are the dimension of the rectangle ?

2L + 2w = 48

L + w = 24

Lw = 140

L( 24 - L) = 140

24L - L^2 = 140

0 = L^2 - 24L + 140

0 = ( L - 14 )( L - 10 )

L = 14 ---> w = 10 because the area is 140

L=10 ---> w = 14
