if its ask for parentheses where would i put them and the is another question that is Six times the sum of k and d would the answer for that be 6(k + d) or is that incorrect

The parenthesis in your Comment is correct, since your Comment says "six times the sum of ..." But as worded, the original question says "the sum of...," in which case there should not be a parenthesis.
