This problem is probably a lot easier than you think it is. The fifth term is found when n is equal to 5, so you literally just substitute 5 for n and then do the arithmetic.
For example, if you were trying to find the fifth term of the sequence an = 2(-1)n, the answer would be
a5 = 2(-1)5 = 2(-1) = -2
