Lets let the width of the rectangle (W) be x. Then the length will be equal to 6x. Then we can write area and perimeter in terms of x:
A=L*W = 6x*x = 6x2
P=2L+2W = 2(6x)+2*(x) = 14x
Using what we know for the area, we can solve the first equation for x
A = 216 = 6x2
Therefore x = 6
