f(x+h) = (x+h)^2 + 4(x+h) + 3
= x^2 + 2xh + h^2 + 4x + 4h + 3
subtracting f(x).....
2xh + h^2 + 4h
Dividing by h:
2x + h + 4

When you get to calculus, you take the limit as h gets closer and close to zero...
the difference quotient becomes the derivative, which is then 2x+4...
you will learn ways to calculate this faster...
