Get the square root all by itself and then square both sides.
6√x + x = 3
6√x = 3 - x
36x = 9 - 6x + x²
x² – 42x + 9 = 0
From the quadratic formula, x = 21 ± 12√3. If we plug back into the original equation, we find that 21 + 12√3 doesn't work. Therefore, the only solution is x = 21 – 12√3.
