4500 + 150.25s = 3696 + 200.5s

 

Solve for s

 

4500 - 3696 = 200.5s - 150.25s

 

804 = 50.25s

 

s = 804/50.25 = 16 tons of sugar

 

The cost is found by plugging this value into either side of the original equation; it is $6904.
