The slope of a perpendicular line is the negative reciprocal of the original line. I am going to take a guess and say that you meant type 6 x - 5 y = 6 instead. Solve this for y as follows:
-5y = -6x - 6 moved x term to right
y = 6/5 x + 6/5 divided every term by -5
Therefore the slope of this line is 6/5. A line perpendicular to this line will have a slope of m= -5/6. Using the point of (12,0), we plug these into the point slope formula y - y1 = m ( x - x1) m = -5/6 x1 = 12 y1 = 0
y - 0 = -5/6 (x - 12)
y = -5/6 x + 10
