I would first look at the formula for perimeter of a rectangle.
You add the lengths and widths. So now we have 42 = L + L + W + W.
We know that length is 7 more than width. So W + 7 = L . Lets substitute this back into our equation above:
42 = W + W + (W + 7) + (W +7)
42 = 4W + 14
42 - 14 = 4W + 14 - 14
28 = 4W
W=7
We have the width and the formula for length so lets go ahead and solve for L.
L=W+7
L=7+7
L=14
The length of the triangle is equal to 14.
