Linear functions have a slope and an initial value (AKA the y-intercept). In many math classes this will take the form of y = mx + b.
In the case, we will use the 2005 value of 50 as the y-intercept and the .08 pounds per year and the slope. The linear function will turn out the be y = 0.8x + 50.
