Three brothers were eating cherries. The oldest had 15 cherries and the youngest had 9 cherries. The middle brother doesn't have cherries, but he would offer to give his money, 80 cents to the other brothers if everyone got so much cherry. How do you just distribute money?

Well the oldest brother gives middle brother 7 cherries and the youngest brother gives the

middle brother 1 cherry. Then they will have 8 cherries each. Note that there are 24 cherries

altogether and 24/3 = 8. So each brother will have 8 cherries as described.

Since 8 cherries were purchased, 80/8 = 10, so the each cherry costs 10 cents.

Therefore the oldest brother gets 10x7 = 70 cents and the youngest brother gets 10 cents

for the one cherry.
