How do I get the day name into a cell in Excel?

Given a date, how do I get the day of the week (e.g. "Monday") into a cell in Excel?

To get the day of the week,

Select the cell which contains date

Press CTRL + 1,

Choose "Custom" from the Category in the Number Option,

Click the Type Text Box and type "dddd"

Press Enter

And see your date has converted into day name.
