If a quadratic is ax2 + bx + c, then to complete the square, find (b/2) which for us is (-6/2 = -3) and then square it (-3)2 = 9. So the number 9 goes in the box. The resulting square of a binomial is [ x+(b/2) ]2 or for us (x - 3)2
