Use of "ja" in a sentence?

In the following sentence: > Na gut, dann kann ich ja ab sofort auf Deutsch schreiben. Why is *ja* used? What's its function?

The :ja" just adds emphasis. It's easier to see how this works with a simpler example:

"Das is ja komisch!" might be translated as "Thst's really funny!" or even "Man, that's really funny!"

It takes a little getting used to, but that goes quickly.

Es ist ja einfach!
