Why are tangent and cotangent sometimes undefined?

If an angle plotted on an x-y graph is +90 degrees, the tangent is y/x, where x=0. Dividing by zero is undefined.

Same result if you add N*180

For the cotangent, divide by zero occurs when the angle is 0 + N*180
