The Nazis did not specifically seek out the Ark of the Covenant or the Holy Grail. The Nazis were primarily opportunistic looters, and most of the objects they collected were confiscated directly from their owners or from museums. They did loot many valuable objects, including art and cultural artifacts, throughout Europe, mostly as an attempt to enforce Hitler's aesthetic tastes as an expression of his worldviews and raise money and prestige for his government.
