The short answer is yes since the majority of the bridges were built during the Great Depression and the 1960s when the national highways were being built. However federal law stipulates that every bridge that carries traffic needs to be inspected every 2 years and each state or owning agency are responsible to inspect or hire contractors to inspect the bridges they own. Not every state or agency adhere to the same standards. Problem is funding.
