A very tasty recipe you may also want to try is "tapenade". (Pronounced - Tah-pen-odd) It is usually served as an appetizer alongside a nice, crusty, baguette type bread. It's very easy to make as the ingredients and preparation are fairly forgiving if you're afraid of possibly messing it up.
-Ingredients (required): olives, olive oil
-Ingredients (deliciously optional): capers, anchovies, lemon juice, vinegar, herbs, salt/pepper
Hardware required: a bowl, a mashing device (potato masher, mortar and pestle, a meat tenderizer, etc.)/blending device (food processor or an actual blender), a spoon
Step 1: *Make sure you have no pits in the olives of your choosing!*
Step 2: Mash, blend, or crush the olives.
Step 3: Slowly add olive oil to the olives and stir until the texture becomes almost like a thick butter or a paste.
**Optional step: Add lemon juice, herbs, etc. to your preferred taste.
Final Step: Serve alongside the bread and/or crackers of your choice.
***Generally, the type of olives used to make this dish are black olives, kalamata olives, or olives with darker hued flesh. I, personally, think you should use whatever is the freshest, best bargain, and tastiest to you. I hope you enjoy this recipe!
