The approach for solving this problem may be to visualize the number line. For example, plot each set B and C on a number line (or separate number lines if necessary) and note which numbers both number lines have in common.
Pay close attention to the inequalities because the information they share will tell you whether 3 and 9 are include in the intersection/union of the new set.
