The grocery store sold apples and oranges.The price of a bag of apples was $3 more then the price a bag of oranges. One bag of each fruit was $11, how much did a bag of apples cost ?

Apples = Oranges + $3

 

Apples + Oranges = $11

 

If you plug the first equation into the second you get

 

Oranges + $3 + Oranges =$11

 

So 2 Oranges = $8

 

Thus Oranges cost $4 and Apples cost $3 more or $7
