"Zeitgeist" is a word that is known and understood in English.
Is there an English variant of "Zeitgeist" other than "spirit of the times"?

As far I know there is not. That word was incorporated into English the way languages naturally do, much like English gets incorporated into many, many nations now from tech., movies, music etc...
Let me give you some examples of what I mean: kindergarten, hamburger, wiener...
No one really says I went to the garden of children or children garden, specialty food from Hamburg, specialty food from Vienna (Wien): those words just naturally integrated into English.
I, also, like the concept of Gestalt.
