the most common use of the typedef is to declare a structure and a pointer to it's type in one block.
Since there a no pointers in java, it is useless
Java is strongly object oriented, and as such, the question is asking if there
is a way to rename an object of one type to another.
The only way I can think of right now is to declare an object of type OBJECT
and typecast your way from one to the other
